You can write a lot about old traditions concerned with this holiday (it is called Kermesse, as the Wikipedia says, or Czech – posvícení and Moravian – hody), but there is no need to go deep into the history to just enjoy the atmosphere and have fun. For the first time four years ago I was invited to this action by my Czech guardian angel Radka; her family reunites for this holiday every year, and for me it’s a great opportunity to get to know Czech people more closer.
Since then to visit these events in Autumn is my own little tradition that I can share with my friends, too. Ah, just look at these beautiful men and women in traditional costumes; I admire their aspiration to keep the traditions alive every year and spend their time preparing all these colourful actions.
