This lovely village is almost at the edge of Slovakia, near Ukraine. It was a new discovery for me in the Slovak culture and traditions. We have spent here only a couple of days, but it was enough to remember this place for a long time.
Early in the morning we were awakened by the sounds coming from the church, I looked out the window and saw a huge number of cars and people at the entrance. All of them were quite festively dressed and it looked like a meeting of friends and family on a big wedding. But then we found out that it was a Sunday church service. Soon we got out of the guest house and went to make a few photos of this authentic village.
This cute creation came to me just out of curiosity. What a beauty!
The village is very clean and cozy. Everywhere are kitchen gardens, neat houses, clean streets and all this beauty is surrounded by green hills with a cold fog on their tops.
After the church service, the streets were filled with people returning home. It all really looked like a festive social event.
A beautiful view from the guesthouse window.
Everything looked so peaceful and comfortable, so I wished to stay there forever.
The local government building
The most unexpected thing after our coming back was to find out that there is a documentary film about this place. The population of the village is getting smaller and the mayor has decided to improve the situation – making party for lonely people over-thirties. See the trailer below (in Slovak).
Summer adventures has already started ;) Stay tuned with the Lighthousing!
